Phlebotomy is provided by the health board and is available locally at the treatment room in Chryston. Patients can arrange to use treatment rooms in other locations if this suits them better.
Phlebotomy is not provided by the surgery. Previously this was situated in the surgery but due to rapid growth of the population we no longer have room to house this service due to growing demand on our own service.
If hospital care is looking to arrange bloods, it is their responsibility to arrange this. This can be done either at a hospital blood clinic or locally at the treatment rooms by issuing patients with the correct blood forms. We do not supply these forms on behalf of secondary care, on account of our own workload, and due to the responsibility of the returning result which should remain that of the requestor, not the GP.
